Ryan and I are finally in the same place. There were a few setbacks at first--we didn't have gas hooked up, a few things weren't working correctly--but everything is fine now! I couldn't be happier.
One of the things I was most excited about when building this house was the kitchen. In my previous apartment, I had absolutely no space to cook and bake. It was awful! Well, since we've lived here, I've prepared at least one meal a day. I've also broken in the oven with a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I threw together a few pie crusts, too. Not sure if those will be sweet pies or savory quiches, but they're there, ready for me!
I find myself shopping with a whole new perspective. Decorating was never something I thought about a whole lot. I lived in apartments that I didn't really care about. Now I have a house! I will be living here for quite some time! I want to make it home! I bought a butter dish yesterday. It has a squirrel on it. It is so cute! I'm not in any rush to get this place magazine ready, but it's nice to know that I can dress it up to the nines…assuming Ryan likes it… :)
So, if this goes as planned, I intend to use this space as a place to share what I'm cooking up, art projects, home stuff…maybe what I'm listening to (currently the new Avett Brothers album on NPR)! Who knows. Come back and see what's happening!
